Custom Web Site Design
When you chose our custom web site design services you get a web site that is unique and designed specifically to appeal to your target audience with a visual design that matches the branding of your other business materials.
Using a mix of some of the most state-of-the-art technologies such as XHTML, HTML, CSS, PHP, and MySQL CAIL Design has an extensive set of tools with which to develop a custom web site design that will set you and your business apart from your competitors. We break the custom design of a web site into four main phases:
- Information Gathering Phase (generally 2-8 weeks*): Usually this involves us putting together information on what will be in the web site as well as the client's industry, customers and competitors. We look at other web sites in the field and also other web sites with features that the client would like to include and how we could do things different and/or better. At this point we also urge the client to get started compiling the content that they want to go into their new web site; pictures, texts, links, etc.
- Information Organization Phase (generally 2-4 weeks*): Here we take all the information gathered and compiled from the first web design phase and begin laying out the skeleton of the web site. How many pages, which pages link together, where information will be located on the page, etc. We don't actually do any visual web design work here, everything is in boxes just roughing out where it will go and how it relates to other information. This is one of the more important phases as it eliminates a lot of redesigning your web site over and over again in the later phases.
- Visual Design Phase (generally 2-6 weeks*): This is where the clients really start to get excited as they see what the final web site will eventually look like. Here we determine the look and feel of the web site using any information we have gathered up to this point. When appropriate we will use existing business collateral provided to us by the client such as brochures, business cards, letterhead, etc. to ensure that the web site remains consistent with the clients existing brand.
- Production Phase (generally 2-4 weeks*): Here's where it all comes together. We write the XHTML and start actually producing the web site in a working form. By this point there should only be minor tweaking to any of the seperate design elements created in the first three phases. At the end of this phase we perform extensive site testing to ensure that everything on the web site works correctly and appears at it should.
